DVT-544M is a 2-pound camera sensor developed by DVT Cognex company. The sensor comes with an intellect software which is used for inspecting the presence or absence of parts, detecting defects, positioning and precise measurement, to mention just but a few. It can also be used in programable tools for tailored user needs.
Sensor specifications
The DVT 544M measures 112mm x 60mm x 30mm not inclusive of the spectrograph for the spectrograph sensor.
For operating temperatures, the sensor should be placed in an area of between 0-45 degrees Celsius, which is 32-113 degrees Fahrenheit. For best performance, a non-condensing atmosphere is preferred with a maximum of 50 degree Celsius. Its electronic exposure is 10μs. Moreover, it comes with 2 external RJ-45 ports. One 10 pin RJ-45 connector is for power supply & digital input and output. Another RJ-45 (10/1000) is for Ethernet TCP/IP communications. The digital input/output ports are 24V DC regulated. They have 8 configurable inputs and outputs. NPN inputs provide current sinking while PNP provide current sourcing. Inputs can sink currents up to 1.5mA while outputs source a maximum of 50mA. A RAM of 128 MB is responsible for handling all the processes. In flash memory, data is kept persistent such that in the event of a power failure, data is preserved.
Installation of intellect software
Before installation is done using a begins, ensure your PC meets the following requirements:
Windows XP and later versions (7/8/8.8/10) with a CPU with minimum CPU of 400MHz Pentium. A hard disk space of at least 100 MB is required and an RJ-45 Ethernet 10/100Mbit card for I/O communication with the DVT sensor.
Connecting to the sensor
To connect to the DVT 544M sensor, plug a CAT 5 Ethernet cable to an RJ-45 port on your PC and plug the other end to the LAN. Also plug the sensor to the LAN for it to automatically obtain an IP address. The PC and the sensor communicate via the TCP/IP protocols- Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocols. For the two to communicate, the user must setup a unique IP address in the same subnet for both devices. The sensor comes pre-configured with a default IP address, which must be changed.
To set up your PC and DVT with the right IP addresses:
Launch the intellect software.
